CVPage is an independent free help site, not affiliated with MOHRE, ICP, GDRFA or any UAE government body. This is general guidance, not legal advice. Confirm with MOHRE or your employer before acting.
The best CV format for UAE jobs in 2026, and the Dubai CV format I would actually send, is one or two pages, newest role first, with city, nationality, visa route, and notice in the header. A file copied from a US template often fails because it hides those lines. Employers read the CV for two things at once: whether the work is real, and whether you can legally start. I am an AI specialist in Dubai, not a recruiter, and this is not legal advice.
Working in the UAE without a valid MoHRE work permit is illegal, and an employer may not hire someone unless that permit is issued. The CV does not create the permit. It tells the reader which permit they would be applying for.

What is the best Dubai CV format and UAE CV format?
Same file. Dubai and Abu Dhabi private-sector readers are not asking for two designs. They are asking whether the header answers city, nationality, visa route, and notice, and whether the jobs are in an order a person can skim. One column, a common font, A4, plain headings. Put the target role under your name. Keep the summary to three or four lines that name your level and your tools. Then experience, education, and skills. That is the UAE CV format this guide means. A Europass layout or a two-column Canva file is a different product, and it often imports badly.
Best, here, means the format a reader in Dubai can finish. It does not mean a ranked template, and it does not mean a government form. There is no MoHRE CV template I am pointing you to. If an advert asks for a form, follow the advert. The notes below are the private-sector pattern: what to include, what to leave out, and a fictional header you can copy the shape of.
How long should a UAE CV be?
One page is enough when you have under about five years of relevant work. Two pages is the usual ceiling once you have several roles. A third page rarely helps unless you are listing publications, a clinical log, or a project register the advert asked for. Cut the objective statement that could fit any job. Put the newest role first.
Michael Page Middle East tells candidates to keep headings plain, skip heavy graphics, and make location and mobility obvious. That advice fits an ATS upload and a phone skim. Use A4, a common font, and a single column. If you paste the file into a plain-text editor and the jobs come out in order, a parser can probably read it.

Which sections do Dubai employers expect?
- Header: name, target role, city, phone with country code, email, LinkedIn.
- Personal details: nationality, visa or work-permit route, notice period, and a UAE driving licence only if you hold one.
- Summary: three or four lines naming level, domain, and tools. Not a slogan.
- Experience: employer, city, dates with months, title, and short bullets you can defend.
- Education: degree, institution, country, year. Mention attestation only if it is finished.
- Skills and languages: name the language and the level. Arabic is worth a line if you use it at work.
GulfTalent's Dubai jobs guide puts nationality, age or date of birth, marital status, visa status, and driving licence in the personal block. Treat that list as a picture of local habit, not as a statute. You do not have to copy every line. Nationality and visa status earn their place because the permit route depends on them. Marital status usually does not.

What does a UAE personal-details block look like?
The block below is a pattern, not a real person. Replace every line with your own facts. Do not invent a visa, a licence, or a notice period.
Amina Rahman Operations coordinator Dubai, UAE +971 50 000 0000 amina.rahman@email.com linkedin.com/in/example Nationality: Bangladesh Visa: employment residence, current employer. Transfer needs a new MoHRE permit. Notice: 30 days, as written in the current contract Driving licence: UAE light vehicle
What should you leave out of the header?
- Religion. It is not a hiring criterion you should offer unasked.
- Passport number, Emirates ID, and home address. Those belong on a form, not on a file you email widely.
- A full salary history. If an advert asks for current salary, answer in the form, not in the summary.
- A photograph of your passport or visa stamp. State the status in words.
- The phrase transferable visa. It is not a visa category. Say who sponsors you and what notice the contract sets.
Does Abu Dhabi use a different format from Dubai?
The federal labour rules and MoHRE permits cover private-sector hiring in both emirates. The CV shape is the same. What changes is the reader's question: are you already in Abu Dhabi, or would you relocate from Dubai or from abroad? Write the city you live in, then one line on mobility. Abu Dhabi, open to Dubai is clearer than GCC mobile.
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain do not reuse this header unchanged. The differences are in what changes by Gulf country
Entry permits are not processed by one desk for the whole country. The UAE government portal says applications go through ICP, and in Dubai through GDRFA. You do not need to explain that machinery on the CV. You do need to say whether you already hold residence or you need an employer to bring you in.

How should the experience section read?
Use months and years. A role that says 2022 to 2024 can hide a four-month gap or a four-month job. Put the country beside the employer when you have worked in more than one. A reader in Dubai should not have to guess whether the last title was in Lahore, Riyadh, or Abu Dhabi.
- Before: Responsible for ensuring smooth operations and driving stakeholder satisfaction across dynamic environments.
- After: Coordinated vendor schedules for a 40-shop mall in Dubai Marina. Cut missed delivery slots by keeping a shared weekly board with security and housekeeping.
- Before: Spearheaded synergistic process improvements to leverage operational excellence.
- After: Rewrote the shift handover note so the night team stopped missing the same three defects.
Those after lines are illustrations. Do not copy a mall, a shop count, or a defect list that is not yours. If a number is not one you can explain, delete the number and keep the task.
Where do visa and notice sit if the form has its own fields?
Put them in the header anyway. Many agency inboxes never show you the form answers beside the PDF. A reader who cannot see your visa route will often skip the file rather than email you. Keep the line short. The longer explanation belongs in the visa-status guide and, if they ask, in the interview.

What file should you send?
Send a PDF unless the advert asks for Word. Name it Firstname-Lastname-CV.pdf. Do not use Resume-final-v7. One column, no text boxes, no skill bars. A photo is a separate decision, covered in the photo guide. If you add one, keep contact details as real text, not as part of the image.
Whether to include a photo is mixed, and the recommendation is in the photo guide
What is a sensible order down the page?
| Order | Section | Why it is there |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Header and personal block | City, nationality, visa route, notice |
| 2 | Short summary | Level and domain in a few lines |
| 3 | Experience | Newest role first, months on the dates |
| 4 | Education | Degree, place, year |
| 5 | Skills and languages | Only items you can demonstrate |
If you are a new graduate, swap education above experience and add a projects block with the same standard: what you built, with which tools, and what constraint you hit. Do not fill the page with coursework adjectives.
How do you check the draft before you send it?
- Can a stranger tell your city, nationality, and visa route in one look?
- Does the notice line match the contract, not a hopeful immediately?
- Are dates written with months, and do they match LinkedIn?
- Does every bullet name a tool, a place, or a scope you can discuss?
- Did you remove passport number, Emirates ID, and religion?
- Does a plain-text paste keep the jobs in order?

Common questions
Is a two-page CV too long for Dubai?
No, once you have more than a few relevant roles. One page is enough earlier in a career. A third page usually gets skipped.
Should I use a Europass or a Canva design?
A designed two-column file often imports badly. Use a single column and standard headings. Decoration does not replace a visa line.
Do government jobs use this format?
Follow the advert. Some government and security roles ask for forms, photos, or documents this private-sector pattern does not include.
Can CVPage AI write my visa status for me?
No. The checker can shorten vague lines. It must not invent a visa, a notice period, or an employer. You type those facts.
