Does Grammarly Have an ATS Resume Checker? (Tested)

Grammarly's Resume Builder page describes an ATS score against a job ad. The support guide does not. CVPage AI did not trial Grammarly or publish a score.

By Salman Ahmed · Last updated 12 Oct 2026 · 10 min read

People searching for a Grammarly ATS resume checker usually want a yes or no, plus a number. Grammarly's own Resume Builder page does describe an ATS score. I checked that page and the support guide on 12 October 2026. Tested, on this page, means I read those public pages and wrote down what they claim. CVPage AI did not upload a resume, did not record a score, and did not run Grammarly against another product. There is no percentage from this site.

Does Grammarly have an ATS resume checker?

Yes, in the sense Grammarly's marketing uses that phrase. The Resume Builder page says the tool compares your experience with a target role and offers suggestions meant to help a resume pass applicant tracking systems. The steps on that page are: open the Resume Builder agent on Superhuman Go or paste a resume into a Grammarly doc, add the job by pasting the description or a link, then check an ATS score and review suggestions. That is a Grammarly resume review against one job ad. It is not a printout of the text Workday or Greenhouse stored.

Grammarly's Resume Builder page, fetched 12 October 2026, says to check an ATS score after you paste a job description or a job link. A FAQ on the same page defines an ATS score as how well a resume matches a job description on keywords, skills, and formatting. The page also says targeted improvements make a resume more likely to pass an ATS. That line is Grammarly's wording. It is not a result measured by CVPage AI.

What does Grammarly say the score measures?

The FAQ titled What is an ATS score, and how can I improve it? says an applicant tracking system score measures how well a resume matches a job description based on the keywords, skills, and formatting those systems use to screen candidates. The same page describes an alignment score you see after pasting a job description, plus gaps and suggested rewrites. Another line says the builder highlights relevant skills and accomplishments instead of simply adding keywords. Read that as a product description of overlap with the ad you supplied. It does not say the tool opened your file inside a named ATS and showed the parsed fields.

A keyword overlap can still be useful. If the ad says Salesforce and your resume says CRM with no product name, the gap is real, and only you know whether you used Salesforce. If the ad says Kubernetes and you have never touched it, a higher score from stuffing the word in is a worse resume, not a better one. Grammarly's own tips on that page say to review suggestions so they stay accurate and aligned with your actual experience, and not to accept them blindly. I am quoting their caution, not adding a test result.

What does the support guide say instead?

The Resume Builder user guide describes a different slice of the same product. It calls Resume Builder an AI agent that structures content, suggests phrasing, and helps with layout. It says the builder is available to Grammarly Pro and Plus users in Grammarly docs and in Superhuman Go, and that Free users get a limited number of suggestions per day. The steps in the guide are: go to app.grammarly.com, open a doc or upload a file, launch the agent, let it scan, accept an improved version or individual suggestions, and export. The guide I fetched does not mention an ATS score, a job link, or pasting a job description. Those details live on the product page, not in that support article.

Grammarly Support's Resume Builder user guide, also fetched 12 October 2026, describes editing help, plan availability, and export. It does not describe an ATS score. If a button label or a plan name matters to you, recheck both URLs. Product pages change, and this guide will not pretend a later redesign still matches the sentences above.

Does a Grammarly resume review show what an ATS stored?

An ATS check has two jobs, and Grammarly's pages only describe one of them. The first job is parsing: did the system keep the job title next to the company and the dates, in order? A tidy PDF can still scramble that order when the layout uses tables, text boxes, or columns. The second job is search: do the words in the file overlap with the job ad, and are those words true? Grammarly defines its ATS score as the second job, using keywords, skills, and formatting against the description you gave it. The pages checked here do not say the product shows the raw text a parser extracted.

Formatting, in Grammarly's FAQ, means clear, standard formatting that screening systems can read. That is good advice, and it is still not a field-by-field preview. If you want to see whether titles and dates stayed together, paste the file into a plain-text editor and read it from top to bottom. If the roles come out in order, a parser can probably read them. If the dates float away from the jobs, fix the layout before you chase a score.

Can Grammarly guarantee the resume passes an ATS?

Grammarly's FAQ asks whether its AI resume maker can guarantee a resume gets through ATS filters. The answer says the builder is designed to help you create a clear, well-structured resume aligned with common ATS practices, and that Grammarly cannot guarantee every ATS filter or an interview. Outcomes, they write, depend on the job, the recruiter, and how closely your experience matches the role.

Treat a high alignment number as a hint about wording overlap. It is not proof the database stored your last job correctly, and it is not an interview prediction. A resume can score well on keywords and still fail a phone screen if the bullets are generic, or if a suggestion added a tool you did not use. Their mistake list on the same page includes generic templates, skipping the tailoring step, leaving in outdated information, and failing to check that AI suggestions match what you actually did.

What should you check even if a score looks fine?

  • Paste the resume into a plain-text editor. Titles, companies, and dates should stay in the same order you see on the page.
  • Compare one job ad, not five. A term counts only if you can point to the work.
  • Read suggested rewrites out loud. If the line adds a metric, a title, or a tool you did not write, delete that addition.
  • Keep grammar and the resume check as separate questions. Clean spelling can still say nothing about the job.

The sample below is fictional. It is a pattern for the plain-text test, not a client file and not a Grammarly export. If your paste looks like the broken column, the layout is the problem, whatever an alignment score says.

Fictional plain-text paste. Not a real person and not a Grammarly result.

Where does CVPage AI fit if Grammarly already checks grammar?

Grammarly is a writing product that also sells a resume agent. CVPage AI is a checker for a resume you already have. It flags lines that sound generic and, if you paste a job ad, lists keywords you did not use. It does not replace a spelling tool, and I have not claimed it beats Grammarly at grammar or at an ATS score, because the same CV was not run through both. Use Grammarly for the job its pages describe. Use a layout check when you need to see whether the jobs survived as text. Use a keyword list only for terms you can defend.

For the keyword gap on one job ad, open the ATS resume checker

For how a parser stores applications, then how a person searches them, read how ATS actually works

If the file uses columns or grids, read why tables break ATS parsing

If the file was exported from Canva, read can ATS read a Canva resume or a PDF?

A high keyword match can still sound like a template. The signs are in does my resume or CV sound like AI?

Which claims are off limits on this page?

I will not publish a Grammarly score, a pass rate, or a winner between tools. Those numbers would require a test I did not run: the same resume, the same job ad, screenshots, and a written method. Until that exists, the honest Grammarly ATS resume checker answer is the one on Grammarly's pages. Does Grammarly have an ATS checker? Their product page says yes, as a match to a job description. Their support guide, checked the same day, does not describe that score. Neither page guarantees a filter. Recheck the two links before you rely on a plan name or a button.

Common questions

Does Grammarly have an ATS resume checker?

Grammarly's Resume Builder page says you can check an ATS score after pasting a job description or a job link. The score, in their FAQ, is keywords, skills, and formatting against that description. The support guide fetched the same day does not describe the score.

Did CVPage AI test Grammarly?

No. This guide quotes Grammarly's public pages, checked on 12 October 2026. There is no screenshot, no score from a trial, and no claim about how a specific resume performed.

Can a Grammarly ATS score guarantee an interview?

Grammarly's FAQ says it cannot guarantee every ATS filter or an interview. A high alignment number is overlap with the ad you pasted. It is not proof a database stored your jobs correctly.

Should the grammar check and the resume check be the same tool?

They answer different questions. Grammarly is built for writing suggestions and, on the product page, a job-description score. CVPage AI flags vague resume lines and keyword gaps, and it is told not to invent facts.
