What notice does a UAE private-sector contract use?
The calculator on this page does no writing and calls no model. You enter the date you will resign, the number of days in the contract, and whether probation is still running. It adds calendar days and shows the last working day. Resign on 1 October with 30 days and the date you see is 31 October. That is a counting choice, stated here so you can check it. It is not a court ruling, and it is not personal advice from a lawyer.
The band comes from the UAE government portal page on terminating employment contracts, which describes Article 43 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021. After probation, either party may end the contract for a legitimate reason by giving written notice and then working through a notice of not less than 30 days and not more than 90 days. The portal says the period should be the same for both parties unless a difference favours the worker. It also says the period can be shortened or waived by agreement without taking away the worker's other rights. If your number sits outside 30 to 90, the note on the result says so. Use that number only when the contract, or a written agreement, actually contains it.
Probation is a different paragraph. The portal's contracts page says probation cannot exceed six months. If the employer ends the job during probation, they give at least 14 days' written notice. If you resign during probation to join another employer in the UAE, you give at least one month's written notice. If you resign during probation to leave the UAE, the written notice is at least 14 days. The calculator warns when the days you typed are below the description for the path you picked. It still shows the date for the number you typed, because the contract may differ and I should not silently replace it.
DIFC, ADGM, and government employers publish their own rules. If the contract names one of those, the federal band may not be the one you serve. Read that contract. The pages cited here are the federal private-sector pages on u.ae.
What belongs in the letter?
Say that you are resigning, name the role and the company, and give the last working day. Offer a handover only if you will actually do one. Ask for an experience certificate and for confirmation of final settlement if you want those documents. A reason is optional. If you have no reason you are willing to put in writing, leave it out. Do not announce a visa plan, a new salary, or a complaint you would not want in the file.
The four samples further down are templates. The names in brackets are not people. Copy one into an email and replace every bracket. They work with the internet switched off. The generator is separate. It sends the fields you type, and it is told to add nothing else. Read the draft. If a sentence is not yours, delete it.
What happens after you resign?
The portal says the party who does not serve the notice must pay a notice allowance even if the other side had no extra loss. The allowance is based on the worker's last wage. During notice, if the employer is the one ending the contract, the worker can take one unpaid day a week to look for work, with at least three days' warning. Those are the portal's words, not a promise about your payroll.
End-of-service gratuity, unused leave, and notice pay can be estimated on the final settlement calculator. The dated steps from that last day through final dues and the grace period are on the resignation visa timeline. Where a ministry page does not give a day count, that page says check with MOHRE. Ask the employer which documents they will issue. Update the CV when the last day has passed. Until then, the notice line should match the number you can point to in the contract.
The notice guide is the CV version of the same rules: what to write in the header, and what not to call immediate. This page is the letter and the calendar. Neither one is a substitute for the contract or for the ministry page.
