Notice Period on a UAE CV
Article 43 sets 30 to 90 days after probation. Probation notices differ. Write the number in your contract, not the word flexible.

The notice line on a UAE CV is the number in your contract, checked against the band the law allows. It is not a mood. Immediately available is only honest when no notice is left to serve. The rules below are the federal private-sector rules on the UAE government portal. If your contract names a financial free zone, read that contract before you copy a federal number.
Article 43, as the government portal states it: either party may terminate for a legitimate reason if they give written notice and keep working during a notice period of not less than 30 days and not more than 90 days. The period must be the same for both parties unless a difference favours the worker. It can be shortened or waived by agreement without stripping the worker's other rights.

What do you write after probation?
Open the contract and copy its notice, if it sits between 30 and 90 days. Write the unit. 30 days is clearer than one month when someone is counting a start date. If you and the employer have already agreed in writing to a shorter handover, say that agreement exists. Do not announce a shorter period you only hope for.
Notice: 30 days, clause 8 of the current contract. Notice: 90 days. Employer has not agreed to a shorter handover. Notice: none remaining. Last day was 30 September 2026. Wrong: Notice period flexible / immediately available (while the contract says 60 days).
What changes during probation?
The government portal's contract page says probation cannot exceed six months. If the employer ends the job during probation, they give at least 14 days' written notice. If the worker wants to join another employer in the UAE during probation, they give at least one month's written notice. If the worker resigns during probation to leave the UAE, the written notice is at least 14 days.

So a probation CV should not say 30 days just because that is the post-probation minimum. Say you are in probation, give the end date, and give the notice that matches the path: staying in the UAE with a new employer, or leaving the country. The new employer can also owe the current employer recruitment costs in the cases the portal describes. You do not need that paragraph on the CV. You do need the notice number to be the right one.
What if you skip the notice?
The portal says the party who does not serve the notice must pay a notice allowance even if the other side suffered no extra harm. The allowance is based on the worker's last wage. During notice, if the employer is the one ending the contract, the worker can take one unpaid day a week to look for work, with at least three days' warning before that day.

Do not write can join in 7 days if you have not agreed a payment for the rest of the notice. A reader who knows the law will treat that line as a future argument, not as availability.
How does this show up next to the visa line?
| Situation | Visa line | Notice line |
|---|---|---|
| Employed, after probation | Employment residence, current sponsor | The 30 to 90 day figure in the contract |
| In probation, moving inside the UAE | Employment residence | At least one month, as the portal describes |
| In probation, leaving the UAE | Employment residence | At least 14 days |
| Contract already ended | Say if residence is cancelled or in grace | No contractual notice left |
| Family residence, not employed | Family residence | No employer notice |
| Still in Pakistan or India | Needs sponsorship from outside | The notice in that home contract |
What about DIFC, ADGM, or a government job?
The pages cited here describe the federal private-sector law administered with MoHRE. Dubai International Financial Centre and Abu Dhabi Global Market publish their own employment rules, and government employers do too. If your contract names one of those, the CV notice is the number in that contract. Do not assume Article 43's band applies. If you are not sure who regulates the employer, ask them before you print a number. End-of-service gratuity is a different clause from notice. The federal rules, and a two-year example, are in the labour-law note. JAFZA and DDA publish their own pages, and those do not always match a mainland assumption.
Should you mention garden leave or a buyout?
Only if it is written. Garden leave means they can keep you away from work while notice runs. It is still notice. A buyout means someone pays the wage for the unworked days. Say who has agreed. A candidate who writes buyout possible is advertising a negotiation, not a start date.
What does a bad notice line cost you?
It costs the interview when the dates do not match. If the CV says immediate and the contract says 90 days, the rest of the file looks slippery, including the bullets that were true. Align the header with the contract the way you align a job title with the work you can describe.
Count a last working day, or copy a sample, on the notice calculator and resignation samples
Put the notice beside a visa line that is equally specific. See visa-status guide
Do not reuse these UAE numbers on a Saudi CV. Saudi notice is a different law
When the job actually ends, gratuity is a separate sum from notice pay. The Article 51 rules are in UAE labour law gratuity
If the contract names JAFZA or DDA, read what those zones publish before you use a mainland figure. That note is JAFZA and DDA gratuity
How do you check the line in two minutes?
- Find the notice clause. If it is missing, say the contract is silent and you are checking, rather than inventing 30 days.
- Confirm whether probation has ended.
- If it has not, pick the 14-day or one-month path from the portal, matching what you actually plan to do.
- Remove the word flexible.
- Remove immediately unless the last working day has passed or there is no employer.

Common questions
Is one month the same as 30 days?
Write the unit the contract uses. If it says 30 days, write 30 days. A calendar month can be longer.
My employer wants 120 days. Can I put that on the CV?
The portal says the notice must not exceed 90 days. A clause outside that band is something to ask MoHRE or a lawyer about. Do not present 120 days as the legal notice.
I resigned yesterday. What do I write?
Write the last day, which is the resignation date plus the notice still to run. Update the CV when that day passes.
Does the new employer have to wait out my notice?
They have to plan around it unless you and the current employer agree otherwise, or unless a probation rule above applies. The CV should not promise otherwise.
