An accountant CV for Dubai usually fails in one specific way. It says VAT expert, then IFRS, then Oracle, SAP, and Dynamics on the same line. A finance manager can ask which tax period you prepared and which system you posted in. If you cannot answer, the line was decoration. I am an AI specialist in Dubai, not an accountant and not a tax agent. CVPage is an independent help site, not affiliated with the Federal Tax Authority or MOHRE, and this is not tax or legal advice.
The Federal Tax Authority describes VAT as a tax on consumption, levied at each stage of the supply chain and ultimately borne by the end consumer. That sentence is the definition. It is not a licence, and writing it on a CV does not show that you filed anything.

The same authority says that once you have registered for VAT in the UAE, you file the VAT return and make the related payments within 28 days from the end of the tax period. The CV should name the period and the work you did on that return. It should not say expert in place of either fact.

What should an accountant CV for Dubai include?
Use the same header as any other UAE CV, then add three lines a finance reader looks for before the adjectives. One or two pages is enough. Newest job first, with months on the dates. A US resume that hides the visa, the framework, and the system makes the reader guess the three facts the interview will open with.
- Header: name, Accountant or the narrower title you are applying for, city, phone with country code, email.
- Framework: IFRS, or IFRS for SMEs, matching the close you actually worked on. Not both, unless you can say which entity used which.
- System: the one ERP or ledger you posted in. Name the product, not a list of logos.
- VAT: the tax period, whether you prepared schedules or submitted the return, and the portal only if you used it.
- Visa and notice on their own lines. Immediately available is not a visa.
- Leave the company tax registration number, your passport number, and your Emirates ID off the file you email widely.
The wider format notes, including what to leave out of the header, are on the UAE and Gulf CV hub
How do you write VAT experience without bluffing?
Write the tax period you touched, the schedules you prepared, and who submitted. A staff accountant often builds the sales and purchases workings. A manager reviews them and files. Those are different sentences. Do not promote the workings into a filing you never made, and do not hide a filing you did make behind the word exposure.
The FTA's EmaraTax page tells users to go to eservices.tax.gov.ae for the authority's online services, including submitting tax returns and paying. If you logged in and submitted, you may say so. If you handed a workbook to someone who submitted, say that. A classroom certificate is not a login.

Boxes on the FTA filing guide, such as output tax and input tax, are real labels. Use one only when you prepared that part. VAT on sales is not the same task as a partial exemption calculation, and I am not going to invent a checklist of every box. If you cannot point at the working paper, delete the box number.
How should you write IFRS, and when is IFRS for SMEs the honest line?
The IFRS Foundation says it sets standards used globally for financial reporting, and that IFRS Accounting Standards are developed by the International Accounting Standards Board. IFRS on a CV means those standards, or the SME standard, as used in the close. It does not mean I did the books.
Sources we used: IFRS Foundation: who we are
Ministerial Decision No. 114 of 2023 says that, for the corporate tax law, a taxable person shall apply IFRS. A taxable person whose revenue does not exceed AED 50 million may apply IFRS for SMEs. The figure is the decision's revenue line, not a salary and not a target for your CV.

The FTA's corporate tax guide on accounting standards says the guide is not a legally binding document and is not tax advice. It also says the decision names IFRS and IFRS for SMEs as the only accounting standards accepted for corporate tax purposes, that IFRS for SMEs should not be the default, and that for purposes other than corporate tax a person may use different standards so long as the corporate tax calculations still use IFRS or IFRS for SMEs.

On the CV, write the framework of the close you worked on. If management accounts were under IFRS and a tax computation started from those accounts, one line can say that. Do not write UAE GAAP as if the decision had listed it beside IFRS. Do not write US GAAP unless that was the framework and you can say who asked for the conversion. IFRS expert, with no standard and no statement you touched, is the same bluff as VAT expert.
Which ERP name belongs on an accountant CV?
The one you posted in. Oracle, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics are products a Dubai job ad likes to collect in one sentence. They are not a single skill. If the company ran Dynamics 365 Business Central, write Business Central and the tasks: supplier reconciliation, a recurring journal, a report the reviewer actually opened. If a migration made you check a SAP extract for three weeks, write the check. Do not inherit the whole product.
A second system can sit on the CV when you used it for a named task. The failure mode is the line that lists four ERPs and then, in the interview, cannot open a journal. I am not ranking the products. I have not tested them against each other, and a logo list is not evidence.
What does a fictional Dubai accountant CV look like?
The sample is invented. The phone number is not real. Do not copy the employer, the city of the old job, or the years. Use the shape. If a line is not true of you, delete it rather than editing the name. This is not the driver sample with the title swapped. There is no licence category here, because an accountant does not have one.
Rana Mansour Accountant Dubai, UAE +971 50 000 0014 rana.mansour.example@email.com Nationality: Jordan Visa: employment residence, current employer. A new job needs a new MoHRE permit. Notice: 30 days, as written in the contract Reporting: month-end close under IFRS. Not IFRS for SMEs. System: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. No SAP. No Oracle. VAT: prepared sales and purchases schedules for a VAT-registered trading company. Did not submit the return. The reviewer filed it on EmaraTax. Harbour Lane Trading LLC, Dubai Accountant March 2022 to present Reconciled supplier statements to the purchase ledger in Business Central before the VAT workings went to the reviewer. Prepared output and input schedules for the tax period the finance manager filed. Posted rent and freight accruals so the month-end trial balance matched the IFRS close list the auditor sampled. Answered two audit samples on revenue cut-off. Did not sign an audit opinion. Amman Retail Books, Amman Accounts assistant June 2019 to January 2022 Posted sales invoices in a local desktop ledger. This was not a UAE VAT return and not an IFRS close.
Rana's file is one system, one framework, and a VAT role that stops where her work stopped. She does not claim the filing, the audit opinion, or a second ERP. A cost accountant, a payroll accountant, or an audit senior needs a different file. Do not reuse her trading-company schedules for a payroll role.
What mistakes show up on accountant CVs in Dubai?
- Writing VAT expert with no tax period, no schedules, and no honest line on who filed.
- Writing IFRS and IFRS for SMEs together when you only saw one close.
- Calling a local chart of accounts UAE GAAP, as if Ministerial Decision No. 114 had named that label.
- Listing Oracle, SAP, and Dynamics because the job ad did, when you posted in one of them.
- Upgrading accounts assistant to audit senior, or adding a Big Four firm you never worked in.
- Putting the company's tax registration number on a CV you send to many inboxes.
- Copying a driver or nurse sample and changing only the job title.
Where do visa status and notice sit?
Working in the UAE without a valid MoHRE work permit is illegal. An IFRS close does not replace that permit, and the CV does not create it.
Sources we used: UAE government portal: MoHRE work permits
The framework says how the numbers were prepared. The visa line says which permit route an employer would be dealing with. The notice line says when you can start. Three different facts. Someone still abroad, or inside the UAE on a visit entry, should say that in words. Do not let a tidy ERP line imply a residence you do not hold.
Section order, length, and what to leave out of the header are in the UAE CV format guide
Wording for employment residence, a visit entry, and applying from abroad is in the visa-status guide
The number you write has to match the contract. The range after probation is explained in the notice-period guide
Keep the framework line and the system line in normal reading order. A two-column design can bury them. Paste the file into the parser test
A site or design role names a municipality registration, not a VAT return. That sample is the civil engineer CV for the UAE
Common questions
Can I write VAT expert if I attended a course?
No. Write the course if you want, and write the tax period only if you prepared or filed that return. The FTA filing page is about registered persons filing within 28 days of the period end. A classroom is not that filing.
Should the CV say IFRS or IFRS for SMEs?
Write the one the entity used. Ministerial Decision No. 114 of 2023 requires IFRS for corporate tax, and allows IFRS for SMEs only when revenue does not exceed AED 50 million. Do not print both to look broader.
Do I list every ERP I have seen?
No. Name the system you posted in, and the task. A three-week check of an extract is not the same line as a year of journals.
Is this tax advice from the Federal Tax Authority?
No. CVPage is an independent help site. It is not affiliated with the FTA or MOHRE. The FTA's own accounting-standards guide says that guide is not a legally binding document. Read the decision and your contract before you rely on a line.
