Cover Letter for Dubai Jobs

A Dubai cover letter is a short note that answers three questions the CV header cannot: why this employer, whether you can start under a real visa route, and which two pieces of work are relevant. It is not required by the labour law. Many online forms hide the upload. Write one when a person will read it, and skip the life story either way.

The employment process on the UAE government portal starts from a formal offer and a MoHRE permit, not from a cover letter. The letter does not create a right to the job, and it must not invent a permit or a start date.

How long should it be?

Four short paragraphs, well under a page. About 250 to 350 words is enough. A recruiter who asked for a CV is not waiting for an essay. If you cannot say why this company in two sentences, you are not ready to send the letter. Do not repeat every bullet.

What is the structure?

• Paragraph 1: the role title, where you saw it, and your city.
• Paragraph 2: visa route and notice, in one or two sentences, matching the CV.
• Paragraph 3: two proof points from real work. Name a tool, a team, or a constraint.
• Paragraph 4: a plain close. You are happy to talk. You do not beg.

What does an example look like?

The letter below is a composite for layout. The employer, the mall, and the numbers are invented as a format demo. Do not send them as your own.

Dear hiring manager,

I am applying for the operations coordinator role on your careers page. I live in Dubai and I have spent four years coordinating vendors in retail sites.

I am on an employment residence with my current employer. The contract sets 30 days' notice. A move would need a MoHRE transfer permit. I am not on a visit visa.

In my current role I keep the weekly delivery board for a mall operations team and I am the person security calls when a contractor misses a night slot. Before that I scheduled maintenance for a smaller site in Sharjah, using the same handover note I still use.

What should you take out of that example?

The shape, not the biography. Your letter needs your city, your real visa, your real notice, and two pieces of work you can discuss without notes. If you have never worked in a mall, do not borrow the mall. If your notice is 90 days, write 90 days even though the sample says 30.

What if you are applying from Pakistan or India?

Say the city you are in, and say you need the employer to recruit from outside the UAE. Do not write I can land next week. The portal says the employer pays the entry visa and the flight for a private-sector hire. Thanking them is enough. Offering to pay those costs yourself is not a strength.

Should you mention salary?

Only if the advert demands a figure. Put it in one sentence, monthly, and label it as expected or current so you do not blur them. Do not open the letter with a number. Do not write negotiable as the whole answer when they asked for a range you actually have.

• After: I coordinate vendor schedules for retail sites in Dubai. The role on your board is the same kind of work.
• Before: It would be an honour and a dream to join your esteemed organisation.
• After: I would like to talk about the coordinator role. I can do that next week after 4pm GST.

The before lines are the sort of filler a model writes when the prompt says make it professional. They do not name a place or a task. When can you skip the letter?

Skip it when the form has no upload and a text box of 500 characters. Use the box for visa, notice, and one proof point. Skip it when the advert says CV only. Do not attach a letter the parser will treat as a second resume with a different story.

What file name and greeting should you use?

Firstname-Lastname-Cover-Letter.pdf, separate from the CV. Dear hiring manager is fine when you have no name. If the advert names a person, use that name. Avoid To whom it may concern and Dear Sirs. Sign with the same phone number that is on the CV, in international form.
